Cottage style doesn’t pay much attention to clever storage, so we display our treasures, books and accessories on open shelves as well as a collection of gins with a nod back to the 1960s when things were much different then. Another story to tell you here of what famous people frequented the house back in the day . There was one occupant who lived here ,who sleep with a little wild bird perched on the end of his bed.Can you guess what it was ?

Quintessential country cottage decor conveys cosiness, charm, and rustic comfort. A home which is much loved and cherished, which for a short time is yours too. Packed with interesting china and photographs back to when Jack was race riding in point to points and steeplechases. Along with an eclectic mix of treasures, antique furniture and quaint touches of the past. We hope this makes you feel instantly at home. Admire the Mouseman Thompson oak furniture we have collected over the years.

The postman says he likes to deliver our mail as when he opens the door he can smell the warm bread!

The walls of this house, hold many interesting stories and memories are made… come and stay and hear more.

Our view to sustainability – there is a bus service from York – limited but will drop you at the bottom of our drive,if you prefer to use public transport.  Try to use as much local produce as possible, making and take things from our garden. Use local quality butcher . Use refillable toiletries where possible. Anna is always turning lights off ! Food is cooked to your requirements to cut down on excess waste.  We have always done the save this for another day -whether it be an envelpope you can hand to someone rather than with their name on it and it be stuck down , my mother always saved wrapping paper, washed out plastic bags and we had hand- me – downs or swopped with us So the”new” word “sustainability” is nothing fresh here it is just what we do  to be careful . We have an Aga so are lucky that it isnt just part of the family it is a big part of how we live – drying clothes round it when you cant put your washing out, boiling th e kettle on it, making toast on it and it giving added heat to the rooms.
